Found a Bird of Prey on the Ground?

As baby bird season continues, we wanted to provide a quick and easy way to determine if you need to call us for help! Use this flowchart or the text version below to assess the situation when you find a bird of prey on the ground. 

Call us at 301–353-8947 if indicated by the flowchart.

Injured? Yes/Don’t Know - Call Owl Moon [watch for flies]

Injured? No - Nestling (completely fluffy no flight feathers) - Call Owl Moon [watch for flies]

Fledgling (fully feathered and fluffy) OR Juvenile/Adult (fully feathered with no fluff) - In danger (cars, cats, dogs, etc.) or on ground for hours? 

- Yes - Call Owl Moon [watch for flies]

- No - All is well. Okay to leave be!
