We would like to introduce Althea Rahman, who is a multidisciplinary artist and musician based in California. While she will not be joining us in person for the festival, you will see her artwork in action: she is the designer of the two wingspan banners that will be at the festival. Take a selfie showing how your wingspan compares with that of our local raptors!
With degrees in Fashion Design and Oboe Performance, and additional studies in Textile Design and Computer-Based Design, Rahman blends her diverse educational background with her creative passions. As a visual artist and musician, she finds inspiration in nature, animal portraits, and the interplay between different artistic mediums.
In addition to her artistic practice, Rahman is passionate about teaching. She currently teaches elementary music and art, where she introduces young students to the joys of creativity and self-expression. Recently, she collaborated on a large-scale mural project for her school, working with students to bring their collective vision to life. When she is not working, she paints in her office and watches wildlife (including these nesting mourning doves from the spring) from her window.
